Description:The watchdog (WD) module continuously monitors critical system parameters to ensure reliable operation.
Its functions include:
Application Loop MonitoringMaximum execution time: Detects if the process is stuck in a loop (hang-up).Minimum execution time: Detects if the processor is skipping program parts.Voltage MonitoringSupervises the 5 Vdc supply for overvoltage and undervoltage conditions (tolerance: ±5%).Memory Error DetectionMonitors error signals from the CPU, COM, and MEM modules.In case of a memory error, the watchdog output is automatically de-energized.ESD InputProvides an external safety mechanism to de-energize the watchdog output independently of the processor.Operates with 24 Vdc, galvanically isolated from the internal 5 Vdc.
The WD module is designed as a 2-out-of-3 voting system.
Each section independently monitors the parameters above, ensuring that all functions can be tested and verified.
Output SpecificationsWDG OUT current capacity: Maximum 900 mA at 5 Vdc (protected by 1 A fuse).
If the connected output modules exceed this limit, a watchdog repeater (WDR, 10302/1/1) must be used.
The total load current must be distributed between the WD module and the WDR.
